The Muscle Molecular Physiology Lab is interested in how skeletal muscle is lost in people and animals with disease. Because muscle wasting in cancer patients is associated with poor outcomes, we’re particularly interested in how and why people and animals with cancer lose skeletal muscle mass and ways in which these losses can be prevented. We have a particular interest in how pancreatic cancer causes muscle loss, as pancreatic cancer patients have the highest incidence and severity of muscle wasting.
